WHAT IS A GARDEN COACH?

We make you successful by teaching you to do-it-yourself. We're horticulturalists, educators, and cheerleaders. (Really, our owner was a cheerleader in high school.) Hare & Hosta works one-on-one with people who want to know more about gardening, so they can complete a project in mind. This can be keeping a few houseplants alive to a huge homesteader's plot to identifying what's in your yard and understanding year-round care. We answer questions, offer decades of experience, and provide thoughtful, expert advice. Hare & Hosta cuts through the millions of websites and YouTube videos that can feel overwhelming and irrelevant. A coach zeros in on an approach, so you can move forward with confidence. Most people who avoid gardening cite a fear of failure, or a concern about time. This is where coaching comes in! A professional garden coach sets you up for success and saves time and money by closing the gap between your desires and your current ability. 

Coaching Sessions
The first step: a one-on-one coaching session in your yard. Before we meet, we send a short questionnaire, which can be emailed back, or gone over by phone. This way, we show up prepared and ready to give you our most direct, effective help from the start. Hare & Hosta will listen to your project plan and evaluate your space. We listen to you explain your goals and what has and has not worked for you previously. Then, we form a plan together. Typically, first sessions last around an hour. We tell you how to get started, what to take into consideration, and what to not worry about. We want you to leave a coaching session feeling knowledgeable and ready-to-go. After each coaching session, you'll receive an information packet specific to your needs, plus an email with a summary of our meeting and information covered. 

You can choose to work with us once or have check-ins as you progress. We love working alongside you!

Fees
$110/hr initial consultation
$75/hr for repeat customers
